O and i found this cool stop watch that we are going to use in class to keep track of time, so we can learn to manage our time better:)

week 4

Kiaorana,
Well mid week 4 (actually its week 5 for the kids) were all half way!
Mufti day was an interesting experience today, it was cool to see who kids are when they are not in uniform, the teachers warned me that it might get a bit crazy.. and maybe it did..
We have been getting out villages ready for our island, which should be fun (if we learn to communicate with out yelling), the idea is that everyone thinks about what they need on the island, for survival and for their job and what they will need to trade for from other communities. Economics!

Looking forward to getting organised and really nutting out our villages and what we do to survive!

Well I have survived my cut off date (the dreaded 8th of May) and managed to avoid the visit from the university lecturer in week 2! A good effort all round I think!!
Teaching is a lot of fun in room 18, with some great characters to keep everyday interesting!
I am really enjoying maths at the moment, we have a great system starting and it seems to be going well, I would love to hear what you guys think of it (room 18)??
I'm not so sure about being a soccer coach though! Muddy fields, rain and cold winds were not enjoyable on Wednesday!
Another way cool discovery was finding that somebody in the class is going to be my cousin when I get married!

Waiting to hear when my evaluative lecturer is planning to visit so I can make sure a few people are away that day ;) joking, the class wouldn't be the same with out them!

Bring on week 3!

Well its Sunday night, practicum official begins on Monday - TOMORROW!
I'm very relieved to have met the kids and now know I had nothing to be nervous about! :)
They seem like a really fun and engaged class, I really like the way they have interesting class discussions which I look forward to being a part of. Its nice to see a real life example of a community of learners in action! :)
First meeting at 8am so Id better have an early night!
Going to check out "there once was an island" on TVNZ they just spoke about it on Sunday, it is an island that has been effected by global warming.
